Slide into the new season with ease by giving these 3 Autumn makeup looks a try using natural and organic products. We’ve chosen our favourite looks from the A/W18 catwalks, and made them much easier for you to recreate at home (because we all know some of the looks we see on catwalks are a little, *ahem* extreme..)
This year, it seemed there was a slight shift in the usual trends of plum lipsticks and matte skin, and more of an emphasis on colour, with even a little sparkle thrown in! Here are our favourite 3 trends you can easily recreate at home.
Some trends are hard to recreate at home, but this red and gold lip combo is a subtle yet highly effective trick to give your look a little extra glamour. I would recommend using a matte red lip, to avoid the highlight bleeding into the lip colour and visa versa, you want to make sure the lines are crisp and clean for this to be effective. Firstly, apply Couleur Caramel Lip Pencil in 107 Red and fill in the entire lip. Apply Kjaer Weis Lipstick in KW Red over the top, this matte shade does.not.budge, and is the most beautiful, flattering red shade for everyone (yes, everyone!). To highlight the lips, draw a thin line along cupids bow, gradually fading out the colour before you reach the sides of your mouth. For dark skin tones, use the Ere Perez Jojoba Lip Pencil in Gold, and for light to medium skin tones, use the Ere Perez Vanilla Highlighter in Falling Star. If you need to neaten the lip line after applying the highlighter, you can go back in with a lip pencil along the top lip line to achieve a really crisp finish.
Black smokey eyes are out, brown smokey eyes are in! This softer take on this classic (and sometimes tricky to master!) smokey eye is even suitable for daytime wear, and requires only 1 eyeshadow colour. You will need a powder eyeshadow in a taupe or warm medium brown shade, a really good blending brush and a thin angled brush. We used Kjaer Weis eyeshadow in ‘magnetic’, a beautiful brownish gold with very little shimmer to create more of a daytime look.
Start with a primer to help stop the eyeshadow creasing, then using the Kjaer Weis Crease Brush, blend the colour all over the eyelid, into the crease, finishing just under the brow bone. Using the same brush, take the remaining colour that is on the brush under the eye, keep blending, the more blending, the better to keep the look soft. Take the angled brush and dampen it slightly (dip it into water and then dab onto a tissue to absorb some of the water) then with the same eyeshadow colour, apply this as an eyeliner along the top and lower lash line. This anchors the look and defines your eyes, finish with lots of mascara! Ensure you have concealed and brightened under the eye area to avoid looking tired with this makeup look, you can even add a little highlight to the inner corner to give your eyes a more wide awake look.
Statement eyes were all over the A/W18 catwalks. This gold liner is a simple party look that can be done in seconds with a few simple products. We used Ere Perez Jojoba Eye Pencil in Gold, and the gold cream highlight from the Nude & Noir Multi-Use Palette in ‘Reserve’ over the top. You can then use the berry shades from the rest of the palette to add a healthy flush to the cheeks and a berry stain to the lips.
Apply a small amount of primer to the eyelid to ensure you are starting with a bright and even base, then blend over the eyelid with a little powder or ivory, matte eyeshadow. Draw along the top and bottom lash line with the gold pencil, no need to be too neat here! Then with a thin brush, go over the top with the gold highlight from the Reserve palette. Finish with lots of mascara for full, fluttering lashes.
